Railway platforms with cellular roofstructures

Dynamic model of railway platforms.
In order to capture the aesthetics and dynamics embedded in railways this model is set up according to some basic rules. Platforms are allways tangent to track, they adapt to the landscape and injects the sites with new types of space and connections.
Diagram of an ordinary platform configuration and a dynamic model allowing different configurations according to a number of site specific parameters as well as design principles.
The concept intends to visualize the movement and dynamics in a system of platform configurations. A system which grows in to a cellular roofstructure with pods that distribute light and sound.
Parameters are controlling length, width and height as well as curvature, position and intensity. They are set up based on rules of optimization as well as design principles.

Facade extension_02

Facade extension

Initial sketches of a facade extension to an existing office building. Multiple layers increase the depth allowing new functions - vertical communication and outdoor areas. A restaurant on the roofterrace uses the extension as entrance/stairway.
After studying the principal rules of minimal surface modeling, a model was set up in GC - rigorously controlling each part of the geometry allowing for parameters to be changed according to the sytem of stairway as well as more intuitive spatial design.
Laser sintered model showing the layers mirrored in the glass facade incresing the depth further more.

the large difference in performance is that straight cutting plans can be used to create a similar effect as before

"Uncut" model creating a dynamic roofscape. The systems resembles a honey comb structure and acts self supporting in large span structure.
